What does it mean to be a person and to stroll across this world – to be a part of it, and as a human to be apart from so much of the rest of it. What does it mean to be a conscious, thinking human in society with other humans – all of whom have the gift of complex consciousness that is part of what makes us unique among life on Earth?

We value things, and ideas, and symbols in deep, complex ways. We make decisions about what is more important than something else. And then we take action – ideas don’t rest long in the human mind before they push themselves out of us through our muscle, bones, and dexterity. We make things. And we rarely forget the inventions and ideas of the past – with each generation, the things we make get ever more complex.

Over the years, I’ve walked, driven, flown, and floated across some of this Earth, and I’ve almost always had a camera with me – a complicated, technological invention. And for thirteen of those wandering years, there was also a dog by me. We went places and we took pictures. We were tourists out sight-seeing this creation.

As it is with many human activities, when we get a little bit, we want a bit more. My study of spirituality and human wellness have obliged me to entertain the “big questions” more intentionally – to dig a bit deeper with each new encounter. Who am I and who are we? What does it mean that we are here on this Earth? What shall we do while we are here? I don’t think of what I do as sight-seeing anymore. What I do, what I strive to do, is witness. To be a witness of creation.

The images and words of this website are part of my act of witness, part of my attempt to give an account of what is. I know in advance, it will be a human, imperfect account. But offering some account of the world must precede the questions of, “What ought I do while I am here?” and, “What does this journey mean?”
